Ready for the job, New AFC coach assures

NAIROBI.  09-11-2018: Newly appointed AFC Leopards head Coach Nikola Kavazovic wants to help the Kenya Premier League (KPL) giants clinch the title after a 21 year drought.

Speaking today when he was officially unveiled at the club headquarters in Nairobi, Nikola disclosed that the reason he joined Ingwe was to win the league that has been elusive to many coaches at the club noting that this is his new challenge.

“When I was contacted (by the club) I was happy because this is a giant club but when I looked up in the internet, I noted that it is 21 years since they last won the league. That is my new challenge,” Said the Serbian

Nikola further confirmed that the management had allowed him to be in-charge of the transfer season and he has already netted a Zambian left winger Shadrack Chimaya as he beefs up the squad ahead of the new KPL season that is due to kick off in December.

The tough talking tactician noted that he will be looking to enhance time management discipline in the playing unit stating that he has hit the road running ahead of the arrival of his assistant and physical trainer Marko Vasiljevic. “Saving time is very essential to any club and I want players to have that in mind. I feel that the players already trust me in the five days that I have been with them,” Nikola said.

The former Township Rollers tactician who has penned a two year contract at the den won 6 trophies in 7 seasons at the Botswana premiership side besides overseeing Township Rollers get the CAF championships group stages.

At the same time, Leopards have announced several changes in their playing unit. Alongside Chimaya, Ingwe has signed four new players and are in the process of completing moves for two internationals, a goal keeper and a top striker.

According to AFC Leopards secretary General Oscar Igaida, the club has signed center back Joshua Mawira, Left back Isaac Kipyegon, Chmaya and Lawrence Luvanda.

The 13 times league winners have also parted ways with nine players while Wyvonne Isuza, Robinson Kamura and Abdallah Salim have renewed their contracts with the club.
