FKF Betking premier league set for play amid adherence of Covid-19 protocols

NAIROBI Tuesday, November 24, 2020. New comers Bidco United beat Kariobangi Sharks with a Stephen Waruru’s lone goal that amped the Thika based side for the resumption of the BetKing Premier League in a production test match played this afternoon at the Nyayo Stadium.

The match gave a preview of adherence to the set Covid 19 protocols by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sports and Culture in the BetKing Premier  League that is set to kick-off on Saturday, November 28, 2020.

In line with the stated protocols, both of the teams’ players had earlier undergone Covid-19 testing and the entire stadium was fumigated right before the match.

All players, production team, and officials passed through a mandatory temperature check at the entrance where sanitizers were provided for use and in addition, all those in the stadium adorned face masks and practiced social distancing with designated washing points pitched around the stadium.

The match was also played without fans.

Football Kenya Federation has set in motion COVID 19 testing on FKF Premier League clubs ahead of the league kick-off on Saturday.

In line with the Ministry of Health and Ministry Of Sports and Culture protocols, Bidco, Sharks and KCB FC were the first to get tested at the Thika Stadium and Utalii grounds respectively

Kakamega Homeboyz, Wazito FC, Tusker FC, Posta Rangers, Bandari FC, Nzoia Sugar, and Western Stima had their tests done today while

Vihiga United, AFC Leopards, and Nairobi City Stars will close the COVID 19 testing process on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Senede High School(Vihiga), De Paul Center Karen and Ligi Ndogo grounds respectively.

Meanwhile, the countdown to the league resumption intensifies with the game pitting AFC Leopards against Posta Rangers being the first game of the season at the Nyayo Stadium.
